Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive eye care including diagnosis and management of visual and ocular pathologies
Prescribe corrective lenses, vision training, and therapeutic medications (topical and oral)
Deliver emergency eye care for trauma and acute conditions
Utilize lab and radiology services to evaluate ophthalmologic conditions
Coordinate eye care with other physicians when systemic disease is present
Refer and coordinate care for patients requiring services outside the Service Unit
Consult with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and medical staff for complex cases
Supervise Eye Clinic personnel and precept optometry students as needed
Qualification
Required
Doctor of Optometry (OD) from an accredited institution
Current, unrestricted optometry license in any U.S. state (diagnostic & therapeutic privileges required)
Active DEA license
Minimum 1 year recent optometry experience
BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
Proficient in EHR/EMR and basic computer skills
