Civil Engineer, Transmission & Distribution (II, III, Senior I or Senior II)
Chelan PUD is seeking a Civil Engineer to support the planning, design, construction, and operation of overhead transmission and distribution facilities. This role involves performing engineering calculations and design, preparing plans and specifications, and managing projects to ensure safe and reliable power system performance.

Responsibilities
Perform engineering design, analysis, and calculations for overhead power lines, including use of specialized line design and structure analysis software
Prepare and review technical plans, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and feasibility study sections for transmission and distribution projects
Provide field support during construction, including answering technical questions, reviewing options, resolving construction issues, and supporting inspections and testing
Coordinate with System Operations on switching, outage planning, and system status analysis to support safe and reliable operations
Manage or support projects from initiation through closeout, including scheduling, budgeting, progress reporting, materials procurement, and consultant/contractor coordination
Interpret and apply applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., NESC, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, NERC) and support compliance-related activities and documentation
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong knowledge of civil/structural engineering principles as applied to transmission and distribution line design
Working knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards, construction methods, and QA/QC practices
Proficiency with engineering and project software (e.g., PLS-CADD or similar line design tools, Primavera or MS Project, Excel, Word, Maximo or similar asset management tools)
Ability to analyze and solve engineering problems, evaluate alternatives, and present clear technical recommendations
Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with engineers, field crews, contractors, and non-technical stakeholders
Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple assignments, and (at senior levels) lead teams and mentor less-experienced engineers
