Fire Sprinkler Designer

They are seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer to create designs, submittals, and permit drawings for local projects, ensuring compliance with NFPA standards and collaborating with various teams for successful project execution.

Responsibilities

Design and layout fire sprinkler systems for local renovations, upfits, and small-scale projects
Create submittal and permit drawings, ensuring compliance with NFPA codes, local regulations, and AHJ requirements
Generate material lists and equipment specifications based on design drawings
Perform hydraulic calculations and verify system performance criteria
Coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) to ensure smooth permitting and approval processes
Support field teams with design clarifications, adjustments, and small sketches as needed
Assist in estimating and reviewing project costs based on design requirements
Participate in pre-submittal meetings, project reviews, and job cost discussions
Maintain accurate project documentation for company records and compliance purposes
Communicate design challenges, project schedules, and updates to customers and internal teams

Required

NICET Level II or higher in Fire Sprinkler Layout (or ability to obtain)
Proficiency in AutoCAD or SprinkCAD (or similar design software)
Familiarity with NFPA 13, 14, 20, and applicable building codes
Ability to create permit-ready submittal drawings
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

Preferred

Experience designing small commercial upfits, retail, or office renovations
Experience working with local fire marshals and permitting offices
Prior field experience in fire sprinkler installation or inspections
