Education Intern (Spring 2026)

The Virginia Museum of History & Culture is the oldest museum and cultural organization in Virginia, dedicated to preserving and sharing the state's history. They are seeking an Education Intern to assist the education team with tour groups and various programming needs, while also conducting research for program development.

Responsibilities

Leading field trip programming, both in-house and via distance learning
Preparing for and assisting with additional public programs (ex: Virginia History Day, Homeschool Open House, First Fridays, Sensory Friendly Events, etc.)
Performing other duties as assigned

Qualification

ChildrenVirginia historyResearch skillsPublic speakingAdministrative skills

Required

Willingness to work with elementary-aged children
Ability to address audiences, stand, and walk for up to two hours
Interest in, and willingness to learn, general Virginia history on a variety of topics
Minimum 3.0 GPA
May be an undergraduate or graduate student
Cover Letter and Resume required

Preferred

Experience working with children
Basic knowledge of Virginia or American history
Desire to learn more about museum education/public history
Primary availability on weekday mornings
Experience working with students/children within or outside of a museum/camp experience
Experience analyzing primary source documents
