Machinist and Lathe Operator - 1st Shift

AIM Heat Exchangers is a family-owned manufacturer of custom shell and tube heat exchangers, seeking a full-time Machinist/Lathe Operator for the 1st shift. The role involves setting up and operating various machines, reading blueprints, and ensuring quality standards are met while performing machining operations.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate machines such as lathes, drills, saws, and mills
Primary duty will be lathe operator
Read blueprints to determine product specifications and material needed
Perform all job functions to meet acceptable quality and performance standards
Marking machined parts with heat numbers for material traceability
Communicate with co-workers and supervisors to receive instructions and coordinate activities
Follow all safety procedures
Drive a forklift to transport material
Operate overhead crane
Perform minor machine repair such as oiling or cleaning machines
Other duties as assigned

Required

3-5 years of machining experience
Forklift operation certification
Overhead crane operation certification
NYS driver's license
High School Diploma or equivalent and minimum 3 years experience
Knowledge of machines and tools including drilling, tapping and layout
Ability to use measuring devices such as calipers
Strong math skills including ability to convert decimals to fractions
Able to read and understand blueprints
Experience in working with different types of materials
Hold tight tolerances
Documentation with attention to details and accuracy
The ideal candidate will be a team player with the desire to learn and increase their value to the company over time. Must be willing to perform a variety of functions

Preferred

Ability to operate CNC machines a plus
Some personal tools may be required
