Responsibilities

Developing and teaching introductory, core, and Ethnic Studies Requirement courses in the discipline
Developing courses in their area(s) of specialization
Producing scholarship and/or equivalent creative activities commensurate with the Department Personal Standards requirements for tenure
Mentor students
Serve on departmental and university-wide committees

Required

Ph.D. in Ethnic Studies, Chicana/o Studies, or related fields with an interdisciplinary study of visual culture and immigration (ABDs may apply but must show evidence that the degree will be completed by the appointment date)
Demonstrated or potential excellence in undergraduate teaching
Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with students from intersecting marginalized social groups
A strong record of scholarly and/or creative accomplishments appropriate to the level of appointment
Experience in working collaboratively with colleagues and communities
Ability to balance excellent teaching, scholarship/creative activity and service

Preferred

Ability to teach and build curriculum in lower and upper-division courses focused on visual culture and immigration with an emphasis in Latinx and Central American Studies
Evidence of effective use of a variety of instructional methods and learning modalities
Commitment to cocurricular activities and engagement with campus and regional communities
