The Texas Juvenile Justice Department is seeking a Psychologist II-III for Forensic Services. The role involves providing psychological evaluations and therapeutic services for youth in a secure correctional facility, and supervising a team of mental health specialists to ensure effective treatment and support for youth with mental health challenges.

Responsibilities

Provides clinical supervisory activities, including group monitoring as directed by the Senior Psychologist for Forensic Services
Conducts trauma informed psychological evaluations, suicide risk assessments and suicide monitoring; updates (MH/MI/Med), Administrative, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) evaluation, Behavior Management Plans, and other clinical evaluations that incorporate specific recommendations regarding transition planning, risk management, and appropriate core and behavioral interventions
Identifies when youth should be placed on or removed from suicide alert; and identifies supervision requirements needed to ensure youth safety
Provides a range of direct trauma informed therapeutic services, including individual, group, psychoeducational, and MDT interviews of youth
Provides specialized consultation to MDT members, including juvenile correctional officers, case managers, and education staff on trauma informed assessments, treatment, adaptations and modifications, intervention, Behavior Management Plans, clinical and behavioral management of youth who are referred with special needs or problems, and group monitoring
Contributes to the development, maintenance, and delivery of in-service training designed to improve the clinical performance of facility staff (e.g., Stage Assessment, suicide prevention training, and other specialized training)

Performs a variety of related duties, not listed, determined and assigned, as needed, by the supervisor
Performs all duties in compliance with agency safety policies and procedures: Reports safety hazards and corrects hazards when possible
Completes required documentation in the event of an accident/injury within requested timeframes
Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency attendance and leave policies
Will be required to travel up to 10% of the time
Actively embody and support the Texas Model 2.0 by demonstrating its core values in daily tasks and interactions with others

Required

Licensed as a psychologist (independent practice) in the State of Texas and less than eighteen months of experience as a licensed psychologist
Licensed as a psychologist (independent practice) in the State of Texas and eighteen months or more of experience as a licensed psychologist
Pre-employment conditions require acceptable results from mandatory: pre-employment drug test; finger printing, criminal records check, and TB testing; Fitness-for-Duty Assessment which may include both physical and behavior evaluations
Failure to maintain required licensure will result in termination of employment
Maintain required license in good standing
