Operator Trainee Water Production

The Operator Trainee will assist in various semi-skilled tasks related to water production processes and equipment maintenance under the supervision of experienced water operators.

Responsibilities
Assists in pump operations, daily maintenance of equipment, maintenance of equipment per O&M manuals
Assists in monitoring mixing of chemicals for treatment, backwash membranes as required
Assists in water production process
Assists in monitoring all tank levels
Assists in testing water samples to determine acidity, color, and impurities
Records data such as chemicals used for treatment, water turbidity, water pressure, run time of pumps, Chemical weights, and feed rate
Records daily flows at the Surface Water Treatment Plant, Ground Water Storage Tanks, and Elevated Storage Tanks
Monitors the surface water tank levels, daily distribution CL2 samples, and security at plants
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Valid Class 'C' Driver License
High school graduate or GED required
Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs
Ability to maintain licenses
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software
Ability to participate and effectively utilize safety procedures
Any candidate considered for this position must obtain the TCEQ Class “D” Water Operator License within the first 90-days of employment and the Class “C” Surface Water and/or Groundwater Operator License within 24 months of employment
Preferred
Class “D” Water Operator License preferred
Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skill and abilities for the position is preferred
