CTD Temporary Summer Learning & Behavior Support Specialist, Grades 6-12
Northwestern University is offering a temporary position as a Learning and Behavior Support Specialist for their CTD Academic Summer Camp. The role involves coaching staff, providing resources to students, and ensuring that students are supported in their learning and behavior during the camp sessions.

Responsibilities
Learn, uphold, and implement CTD policies and procedures, including the CTD Honor Code
Review confidential student health information prior to the start of each session to identify students who may need additional support in the classroom and/or residence halls
Work with academic and residential teams to develop support plans for these students, in addition to students who demonstrate heightened social or emotional needs, and/or challenging behaviors once they arrive at CTD
Provide resources to staff whose students are struggling with anxiety, homesickness, making social connections at CTD, adapting to the program, etc
Generate, organize, and share student support resources with instructional and/or residential staff as needed
Support staff in fostering appropriate behavior and positive group dynamics in their classrooms and residential groups
Meet with students needing additional support as requested by CTD administrative staff
Check in with students regularly who were referred to LBSS or who have written support plans
Provide ongoing updates to CTD administrative staff about student support plans and progress
Communicate with and enlist the support of caregivers as needed
Submit documentation related to student support
Read staff documentation related to student behavior to identify opportunities to support those staff
Support portions of training as they relate to strategies to support the social-emotional needs of all students, as well as emphasis on twice exceptional students
Attend academic and residential team meetings
If requested by caregivers, schedule a session with CTD’s licensed child and family therapist
Thrive in a fast-paced, demanding work environment that requires continuing flexibility, a positive and caring attitude, and collaboration
Assume program-related responsibilities as requested by CTD administrative staff
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related field
2+ years' experience working with youth in an educational setting
Experience communicating with parents/caregivers and/or key stakeholders of an organization
Experience working with cross-functional teams in a professional setting
Ability to traverse distances of at least one mile with or without accommodation
Preferred
Master's degree
Experience with students who have been identified as gifted/talented
