Thermal Spray Technician (3rd shift, Mon-Fri)

The Thermal Spray Technician (Level I) will be responsible for applying thermal spray coatings to metal parts, following safety protocols, and ensuring quality control under the guidance of experienced technicians.

Responsibilities
Through our extensive in-house training program, (OJT) the successful applicant will be instructed via a series of computer based and hands-on training, the necessary skills of the position
Follow established safety protocols and guidelines to ensure full compliance with company safety policies and procedures
Interpret and follow work instructions and shop drawings to ensure the proper thermal spray process is applied to the correct part features
Inspect and prepare parts for thermal spray coatings, including cleaning, masking, blasting, and any other processes that may be required
Set up and operate thermal spray equipment in accordance with work instructions
Select and apply specified coatings
Handle all coatings in accordance with established safety, quality, stock control and security policies
Apply coating either manual or via computer-controlled processes. (CNC)
Remove masking after coating and prepare parts as necessary for the next process
Maintain equipment as required, including performing daily checks and completing logbooks or other records when required
Frequently perform process tests for quality control
Use handheld gauges to measure parts during the coating process to ensure correct amount of coating is applied
Qualification
Required
A minimum of six months to one year of experience in the thermal spray process
Able to use measuring devices such as scales, micrometers and dial indicators, go/no-go gauges etc
Experience in reading shop drawings and work instructions and the documentation of work performed
Previous experience in the operation of overhead cranes
General experience using files and other hand tools to remove sharp edges from metal surfaces
High school or technical school graduate or equivalent
Familiar with or able to learn basic shop math
Basic knowledge of computers and standard software programs
Read, write, speak, and understand the English language
Must be able to use hand tools and have good hand eye coordination
Ability to work independently and have the knowledge to perform the job with minimum supervision
