Launch Operations Crane Operator III
Blue Origin is a company focused on developing reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles for the benefit of Earth. They are seeking a Launch Operations Crane Operator III to enhance Launch Operations by executing lift plans, inspecting rigging, and maintaining cranes, while ensuring safe lifting operations. Responsibilities
Reviewing and executing lift plans for critical lifting operations utilizing mobile and overhead cranes
Inspecting and using proper rigging for critical crane lifts
Executing standard lift activities daily
Supporting Test and Flight Operations Managers/Engineers as needed
Interface with stake holders towards efficient scheduling and prioritization
Coordinate and communicate mobile crane requests and invoicing with the Crane Vendors
Qualification
Required
5+ years' experience as a crane operator preferably with lattice and lock and pin booms
5+ years working with or in the aerospace industry
NCCCO, TSS, TLL certification
Extensive Knowledge in industry rigging standards and practices. (ASME, OSHA, SPFCMAN 91-710). Calculate sling angles and sling angle tensions, determine center of gravity mathematically and in the field through extensive training and experience with materials and weights
Must possess the knowledge in using and picking the proper rigging capacities and pick points to support the load safely
Class A CDL with good driving record
Ability to develop and implement Critical lift plans in the field
Ability to precisely follow critical lift plans and procedures prepared by Engineering
Ability to work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles and responsibilities
Ability to develop and train new crane operators on proper rigging practices and crane usage
Basic computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc
Must be able to set a high hiring bar while evaluating and hiring top talent
Highly important to be customer focused with strong verbal and written communication skills
Intense curiosity for understanding the details of our business and how to optimize it
Exceptional organizational and analytical skills and a proven ability to drive complex projects with minimal oversight
Work off-shift, extended hours, overtime, and weekends if/when necessary
Preferred
Broad/deep Crane Operations planning skill set
Certified Lift director
Certified Critical Lift Operator
Advanced rigging-Rigger 2 NCCCO
Certified Signal Person
Aerospace background with experience handling high value aerospace components
Mobile Harbor Crane experience
Offshore and knuckle boom crane experience
Experience in multi-drum operations; pile driving/auger drilling
