Manager, Production Equipment Services

The Manager of Production Equipment Services will lead maintenance and lifecycle management of production equipment for electro-mechanical medical devices, overseeing a cross-functional team to ensure compliance and maximize operational efficiency.

Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and continuously improve PM programs and calibration schedules for all production equipment
Ensure calibration traceability and compliance with regulatory and quality systems (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA QSR 21 CFR Part 820)
Partner with Manufacturing and Process Engineering to define requirements, evaluate vendors, participate in FAT/SAT, and support installation and commissioning
Identify, justify, and manage upgrades to improve reliability, throughput, and safety; lead ROI analysis, scoping, and project execution
Collaborate on the design, and oversee the integration, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance of automated assembly lines and robotics; ensure seamless integration with existing processes
Manage a diverse team of technicians, administrators, and engineers; provide coaching, performance management, staffing, and succession planning
Apply Lean/Six Sigma and reliability-centered maintenance methodologies to reduce downtime, MTTR, and spare parts waste; track relevant KPIs (e.g., MTBF, OEE, downtime)
Develop and manage the equipment services budget; optimize spare parts inventory, vendor contracts, and maintenance contracts
Maintain thorough documentation for PM plans, calibration certificates, equipment histories, change controls, and validation artifacts as needed
Ensure calibration traceability and compliance with regulatory and quality systems (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA QSR 21 CFR 820)
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree or relevant certifications preferred
8–12+ years in manufacturing/maintenance or asset management, preferably in medical devices or other highly regulated industries
3–5+ years in a supervisory or manager-level role
Familiarity with ISO 13485 and FDA QSR/21 CFR Part 820; experience with calibration standards and regulatory records management
Strong background in PM/RCM, TPM concepts, calibration processes, and spare parts optimization
Experience with automation technologies (robotics, PLCs, HMI) and integration with manufacturing systems
Proficiency with CMMS/EAM systems (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo, or similar); data analytics and reporting tools; ERP familiarity
Strong documentation practices and change-control experience
Excellent people leadership, communication, and stakeholder management; ability to influence across functions in a fast-paced, regulated environment
Project management mindset with a track record of delivering results on time and within budget
