Utility Technician I/II/III- Stormwater

The Town of Holly Springs is seeking a Utility Technician I/II/III for its Utilities and Infrastructure department. This role is responsible for the maintenance and repair of stormwater infrastructure to ensure water flow and quality, performing tasks such as cleaning, repairing, and installing stormwater systems.

Responsibilities

Serves as a team member of stormwater technicians that must perform all tasks efficiently and effectively
Inspects, repairs, rehabilitates and maintains storm water infrastructure within the Town of Holly Springs
Performs maintenance on storm drain infrastructure, including ditching, culvert repair, replacements and catch basin rebuild and repair
Inspect storm drains and catch basins, and records footage counts
Inputs, updates and maintains information and records using computer programs
Operates CCTV camera system to visually inspect and document line conditions
Cleans and repairs storm drain infrastructure and documents the repairs; televises areas of infiltration, damage, buried inlets, and lines
Assist with locating water, sewer and storm drain lines using electronic and mechanical equipment
Adjusts, repairs and replaces storm drain grates, rings and covers
Determines the staging of various work projects to ensure the appropriate labor, equipment and materials are utilized in an efficient manner. Transports equipment and materials to and from work sites
Maintains up-to-date records of all maintenance activities
Sprays herbicides/pesticides to control weeds/mosquitoes on Town property
Cleans, lubricates, and performs preventive maintenance or repair on equipment
Ensures all activities are carried out in a safe manner; adheres to all safety regulations; ensures all regulations pertaining to the safe use of equipment are understood and followed
Reports all accidents to the appropriate authority. Follows all policies for reporting
Provides backup assistance to other department personnel as needed
Maintains appropriate records including complete equipment repair history, work orders, daily job card, and other related data
Completes written records of labor and materials used for each work project
Performs emergency repairs and work as necessary
Assist with maintenance, and repairs of water and sewer main breaks, force main breaks, and leaks, valves, fire hydrants as assigned
Reports to work for after hour needs, as assigned
Other duties as assigned

Required

High school diploma or equivalent
Satisfactory driving record
Must possess or able to obtain a valid North Carolina Class B Commercial Drivers License with a tanker endorsement within six months to a year from employment

Preferred

Previous work experience in water distribution, collection systems, general maintenance, storm water, concrete and asphalt
Preferred experience of equipment operation/driving or specialized maintenance experience in a utility setting
North Carolina Class A Commercial Drivers License with a tanker endorsement
Any recognized State Certifications in Collections, Distributions, or Storm Water training
