Prototype Engineer, Electromechanical Integration

Responsibilities
Work with cross-disciplinary engineering groups to determine system requirements
Use CAD software to design mechanical hardware for prototypes and production systems
Integrate mechanical and electronics hardware into functional assemblies
Provide DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly) feedback to other engineers and designers
Read and interpret mechanical and wiring diagrams to support builds
Assemble, test, and troubleshoot electromechanical systems
Write clear documentation to capture design details and process steps for production builds
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred (Electrical Engineering considered); equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
Proficiency with CAD tools and mechanical design fundamentals
Experience assembling electromechanical systems
Ability to read and interpret mechanical and wiring diagrams
Skilled in the use of hand tools for basic part fabrication and assembly
Hands-on experience with tools and techniques used in the electronics industry: soldering irons, crimpers, multimeters, and related tools
You will be required to be on your feet for up to 8 hours per day and occasionally lift objects weighing 50 pounds or more
You should be comfortable occasionally working in elevated work areas, including ladders and platforms, while using appropriate safety equipment
You must also be able to work safely in confined spaces when required
You will occasionally be asked to help other teams within the company, such as facilities, office management, and logistics
Preferred
Experience working in high-consequence or high-reliability industries
Skilled in the use of manual machine tools and measuring tools
Familiarity with PLM or configuration management systems
Comfort providing feedback across disciplines and working in fast-moving startup environments
The ability to support occasional deployment or field assignments is preferred
