Scribe - Primary Care

Midwest Eye Consultants is focused on excellence in eye health care and is seeking a Scribe to join their growing team. The Scribe will assist doctors by transcribing data into patient medical records and performing various administrative and clinical functions to optimize patient care.

Responsibilities

During the exam, accurately enter information into EHR as dictated by the doctor
Assist optometrist with patient procedures
Escort the patient to Optical and introduce to the Optician, reiterating the doctor’s recommendations
Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow throughout the office, properly communicating delays
Prepare exam room by cleaning instruments and maintaining inventory of medications and supplies
Provide a safe, clean, organized and inviting environment for both patients and staff
Perform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by the office manager or team lead, and doctor(s)
Prepare patients for eye examinations and vision therapy; confidentially instruct patients about medications, tests, and procedures
Perform various vision and diagnostic tests
Collect patient medical history and enter data into EHR
Assist with answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, and effectively maintaining appointment books for doctors, as well as assist in completing recalls

Required

Physical Activity: Standing for sustained periods of time, Stooping, Grasping, Lifting, Talking, Hearing
Physical requirements: Light work. Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs on a regular basis from floor to waist, 5 lbs from waist to shoulder, and 5 lbs from shoulder to overhead
The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned

Preferred

Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not required
Energetic personality and willingness to learn
