Laser Optics Process Engineer
Corning Incorporated is a leading innovator in glass, ceramic, and materials science. The Laser Optics Process Engineer will provide production support for manufacturing CaF2 laser optic products and assist with process improvements to enhance manufacturing performance.

Responsibilities
Provide day to day production support to resolve process issues that are outside our standard operating parameters
Maintain manufacturing processes using existing production assets
Use and improve current metrology methods to monitor and improve manufacturing performance
Specify and improve cleaning, material handling and storage procedures within laser optics process flow
Identify and lead process improvements to reduce cost (Variation, cycle-time, complexity, and scrap reduction)
Author documentation and provide training to the production staff for all new processes
Collaborate with the commercial and development engineering to extend our current capabilities to meet future needs
Qualification
Required
4-yr technical degree with the following order of preference: Engineering (Mechanical, Ceramic, Chemical, etc); Optical science/engineering; Material science; Physics; or equivalent experience
Minimum 1-3 years of optical fabrication production experience
Critical thinking to rapidly solve problems
Strong written and oral communication skills
Desire to solve problems by using Statistical/6-Sigma/DOE and Hypothesis Tree problem solving methodologies
Confidence in interaction with all levels of the organization (Production techs to Sr. Leadership)
Ability to function on a process engineering team of multi-disciplinary engineers
Preferred
Knowledge or Training in one or all these areas: PEx, MEE, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, Lean Fundamentals, and KT Problem Solving
