CREDIT ANALYST
Merchants National Bank is a financial institution seeking a Credit Analyst to contribute to the underwriting process for their commercial loan portfolio. The role involves compiling, analyzing, and interpreting financial information to support loan officers and ensure sound lending decisions.

Responsibilities
Compile detailed credit analyses for new and existing commercial loan relationships
Accurately input financial data into analysis systems and ensure correct computations, formulas, and presentation within credit write-ups
Monitor credit analysis benchmarks and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks
Maintain up-to-date notes, statuses, and results for all loans in the credit analysis pipeline
Ensure all financial documentation is properly imported and tracked within internal financial logs
Collaborate regularly with loan officers to gather and incorporate comprehensive information into credit assessments
Identify gaps or inconsistencies in analysis and seek clarification or peer guidance when needed
Apply sound knowledge of financial statements, tax returns, and equipment lists appropriate to the complexity of the credit request
Share insights and collaborate with peers on unique or complex loan scenarios
Adhere to MNB’s commercial underwriting policies and procedures; cite and address any deviations within analysis documentation
Highlight key risk factors and underwriting conditions that must be addressed throughout loan processing and closing
Conduct annual credit reviews on assigned relationships to ensure continued creditworthiness
Participate in Loan Committee meetings as needed, including preparing and submitting accurate meeting minutes
Review commercial appraisals and complete appraisal review checklists within established timelines; escalate any concerns or risk elements
Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of credit analysis procedures
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent required
Strong understanding of financial statements and commercial credit principles
High attention to detail with strong analytical and organizational skills
Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
Preferred
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field
1–3 years of experience in credit analysis, commercial lending, or a related financial role
Experience with credit analysis software
