Intern - Aquatic Habitat and Access (Summer)
The State of South Dakota is seeking an intern for the Aquatic Habitat and Access team. This position will provide experience in managing public fishing access areas, including various maintenance and development tasks.

Responsibilities
Help develop, maintain, and improve aquatic habitat and access for public fishing access areas in the Northeast Region of South Dakota
Experience in the maintenance, development and management of public fishing access areas
Duties may include GIS mapping, noxious weed control, shoreline restoration planting, boating and shoreline fishing access maintenance to include small boat ramp work
Qualification
Required
APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER
Candidates must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Candidate must be able to operate a UTV, 4-wheel drive pickup and trailer, as well as power tools and equipment
Must be able to lift 40 lbs. and work on shoreline terrain
Individual will work with a team at times as well as independently
Must have a valid drivers license
Must be able to pass SD Commercial Applicators licensing through DANR
Must be able to pass ATV/UTV safety courses provided
Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply
By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program
Preferred
Preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior
Preference may be given to South Dakota residents
Preference may be given to students of South Dakota institutions
