Senior Manager, Mission / Quality Assurance (Onsite)

RTX is seeking a Senior Manager, Quality Assurance to lead Quality operations at their Coralville, IA site. This role involves strategic planning and execution of Quality functions, ensuring product integrity and compliance with AS9100 standards while leading a team of Quality Engineers.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and manage quality plans, policies, standards, and processes to achieve site, business, and program quality targets
Set the strategic direction for Coralville’s Quality function, ensuring alignment to Mission Systems and enterprise-wide Quality initiatives
Lead organization-wide projects and continuous improvement efforts to strengthen quality systems and reduce COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality)
Maintain and improve the site’s Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with AS9100, ensuring readiness for audits, assessments, and regulatory reviews
Oversee the development and sustainment of program quality plans, inspection procedures, and operational quality controls
Lead teams interpreting policies, industry standards, customer requirements, and government regulations to ensure ongoing compliance
Direct and mentor a team of Quality Engineers, setting clear expectations and guiding performance management, development, engagement, and succession planning
Build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration
Drive Lean Manufacturing, Zero Defects (ZDP), ACE, and/or Continuous Improvement methodologies to optimize quality performance, reduce escapes, and strengthen process capability
Oversee production process analyses, root-cause investigations, corrective/preventive action (CAPA), and implementation of sustainable improvements
Lead efforts to collect, analyze, and leverage quality data from multiple operational and program sources to inform long-term strategy
Partner closely with Program Management, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other functional stakeholders to proactively address quality risks and support program execution
Interface with customers as needed to support audits, resolve quality concerns, and champion improvement initiatives
Ensure the preparation, accuracy, and maintenance of all Quality documentation, metrics, and governance required for internal and external compliance
Monitor and manage performance metrics that impact quality throughout the Coralville operation

Required

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
Previous Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement Experience required

Preferred

Experience leading multidisciplinary Quality teams in a manufacturing or aerospace environment
Prior responsibility for maintaining AS9100 QMS compliance
Demonstrated success using Lean, Continuous Improvement, ACE, Kaizen, or ZDP methodologies
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional partners
Working knowledge of shop floor processes, inspection methodologies, and new product/process introduction
SAP or similar ERP/MRP experience
Proven ability to plan, prioritize, coach, and manage teams in a dynamic environment
