Senior Commercial Loan Officer

Responsibilities

Conducts interviews, takes applications, and processes preliminary documentation for commercial, agricultural, and consumer loan requests
Discusses loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, and loan documentation to encourage positive customer engagement
Analyzes and evaluates loan requests; approves loans within specified limits
Prepares written submissions for Senior Lender, Regional Credit Officer, or Senior Loan Committee when requests exceed individual limits
Identifies and resolves problems or potential issues with credit information by coordinating with necessary parties
Assists in the review of construction loan advances on commercial properties
Conduct property inspections as assigned
Reviews loan reports to identify maturing or matured loans; proactively completes renewal paperwork or processes declines
Meets with agricultural borrowers and prepares budget projections in accordance with established Bank guidelines
Reconciles agriculture draw requests and payments to approved budgets monthly; prepares and submits variance reports to Credit Administration as appropriate
Performs agricultural inspections or accompanies agricultural inspectors on inspections according to policy guidelines
Assists in the collection of delinquent accounts
Complete all lending functions in accordance with established Bank policies and legal requirements
Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective and professional business relations with customers and trade professionals
Answers customer and trade professional questions and resolves requests promptly and professionally
Keeps borrowers informed of bank loan policies and services; educates customers about bank products and services to help meet their financial needs
Meets with applicants whose loans are denied explaining reasons and discussing alternatives
Always maintain and projects the Bank’s professional reputation
Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relations with Bank personnel and with management
Provides leadership through effective communication and mentoring of junior commercial loan officers and support staff
Coordinates functions with related departments and branches, providing support as needed
Assists other Commercial Lending personnel and provides support as needed
May directly or indirectly supervise loan personnel and/or lending assistants, ensuring high quality work and operational efficiency; may assign, direct, coordinate, and review tasks
Ensures lending personnel and support staff are effective and optimally utilized
Keeps management informed of area activities and any significant problems
Attends and participates in meetings and committees as required
Completes required reports and records
Attends assigned training sessions and stays current on new procedures and policies

Required

High school diploma or GED required
At least eight years of commercial lending experience required
Active license number with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry or the ability to obtain such
Understanding of financial analysis and determination of credit worthiness required
Knowledge of Bank lending and collections programs, policies, and procedures required
Strong interviewing skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical skills
Able to use financial calculator and related computer applications and business machines

Preferred

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred
Familiarity with property management and maintenance procedures preferred
Proven track record of community/civic/trade organization involvement and business development
