Responsibilities

Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of corporate health, safety, and process safety programs, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations (Cal/OSHA, Fed/OSHA, WISHA, EPA RMP, LDEQ, CalARP, UFC, DHS 6 CFR Part 27)
Oversee and direct PSM, RMP, CalARP, and DHS compliance efforts, including timely submission of required documentation and updates
Serve as the organization’s subject matter expert and internal consultant on health, safety, and process safety issues, supporting maintenance and engineering teams
Manage and conduct safety and process safety audits, incident investigations, root cause analyses, and analytical loss studies; communicate findings and recommendations to leadership
Design, coordinate, and deliver site-specific training, including emergency response and hazardous materials responder programs; maintain required instructor certifications
Supervise and develop a team of safety professionals, providing mentorship, training, and performance evaluations to ensure effective program implementation
Oversee corporate health & safety information systems, including user training, report development, and database management
Collaborate with project engineers to review technical designs for safety compliance and hazard control
Prepare and submit statistical reports to regulatory agencies; participate in public relations and community awareness activities
Actively engage in national safety committees, peer groups, and cross-functional safety initiatives
Support the VP of Safety and assist regulatory agency representatives as needed

Required

Bachelor's degree in industrial health, engineering, science, business, or a related field
Minimum five-seven years of progressive experience in developing, implementing, and auditing safety and regulatory compliance programs (PSM, RMP, LDEQ, CalARP, DHS 6 CFR Part 27)
Demonstrated experience in process hazard analysis (PHA), emergency response planning and training, and compliance audits
Technical expertise in ammonia refrigeration systems, including mechanical integrity and preventive maintenance
In-depth knowledge of hazard communication, electrical safety, lockout/tagout, and respiratory protection
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and safety management systems (e.g., Origami), including database design and customization
Strong oral and written communication, leadership, and analytical skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team environments
Willingness to travel 25%–50% of the time; valid driver's license and ability to travel overnight as required
Ability and qualifications to obtain CVI clearance for DHS programs

Preferred

Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) preferred
Certified Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Instructor (CA-OES CSTI) or ability to obtain and maintain certification
