City Engineer (PE)
NEOGOV is seeking a City Engineer (PE) for the City of Yelm. This full-time position involves performing professional engineering work on various city projects, managing development projects for compliance with city standards, and acting as a liaison with public agencies and contractors.

Responsibilities
Supervision of employees within the Engineering Division as assigned by the Public Services Director. Employees may include but are not limited to the Programs and Projects Manager, Project and Grants manager, Civil Review Engineer and Construction Inspector
Responsible for engineering and planning work necessary to plan and complete assigned municipal projects
Responsible for completion of projects within scope, schedule and budget constraints and in compliance and coordination with various Federal, State and local agencies
Reviews and approves plans for public infrastructure projects submitted for private and public developments to ensure compliance with city, state and federal standards
Perform complex engineering research in support of recommendations and project review
Responsible for collecting and analyzing a variety of engineering data
Prepare maps, statistical information, plans, specifications and cost estimates, including identifying and applying for funding sources pertaining to assigned projects
Responsible for consultant selection and management; including contract negotiation, progress monitoring, consultant invoice review and approval, and project delivery
Punctual, regular, and reliable attendance is essential for successful job performance
Provide engineering assistance to the Public Services Department and to the City
Enforce standard operating procedures and regulations
Performs project/construction management responsibilities, including coordinating and monitoring construction engineering activities with staff, consultants and applicable agencies; ensuring compliance with plans and specifications; performing quality control tasks; permit and code compliance inspection, tracking project budget
Interprets codes and standards and makes binding technical determinations
Leads the development and appropriate application of engineering standards and practices for both City and private development projects
Updates the City’s GIS infrastructure database and published web maps
Other job duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field, or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge is required
Must possess a Professional Engineering (PE) license in the State of Washington
Must possess a valid Washington State driver's license and clean driving record
Experience with computers and application software, including word processing and spreadsheets, Excel, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, ArcGIS and Power Point
