McNair Program Coordinator, Student Services Professional III, Temporary
Sonoma State University is committed to excellence through teaching and inclusion. The McNair Program Coordinator will provide academic support services to McNair Research program participants and coordinate program components to assist underrepresented students in applying for graduate programs.
Education
Responsibilities
Perform complex Student Services professional work characterized by independent student advisement, guidance, and provides academic support services to McNair Research program participants
Coordinate distinct program components or special programs
Participate in the planning and execution of a variety of instructional activities
Provide resources and training that help program-eligible students from underrepresented groups apply for and gain acceptance to graduate programs
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in an academic discipline within the sciences, social sciences, or humanities
Experience with counseling techniques, interviewing and conflict resolution
Three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience
Intermediate proficiency with computers, Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
Evidence of degree(s) or certificate(s) and/or license(s) required at time of hire
Preferred
One year of experience working with low-income, first-generation, and/or underrepresented minority students
Experience coordinating academic programs or subprograms and event coordination
Knowledge of publishing software and PeopleSoft
