Project Geologist
Haley & Aldrich is committed to solving clients’ challenges in built and natural environments. The Project Geologist will work in a technical support role, leading project work, providing training to junior staff, and overseeing geologic site characterization while ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols.
Responsibilities
Split time and responsibilities between field assignments and office assignments
Lead portions of technical project work from project scoping through final deliverables under the direction of senior staff
Apply academic and industry knowledge, as well as learnings from prior work experience to execute project work
Provide training, guidance and informal mentoring to junior staff on their projects and within your technical discipline
Under the direction of the senior staff, participate in communications with clients, agencies, and internal teams within your discipline
Oversee geologic site characterization including subsurface explorations, monitoring well siting and construction, soil vapor probe installation, field sampling and waste management
Support and lead project teams with the interpretation, evaluation, and summarization of geologic data to make decisions for the project
Independently complete basic geologic data reduction, summarization and synthesis and provide project teams with concise summaries that include evaluation and proposed next steps
Perform all work in accordance with company and client Health & Safety protocols
Demonstrate the company’s foundational safety behaviors
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Geology or related field
4+ years of related experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be proficient at writing technical reports to meet project requirements
Able to work independently on individual tasks supporting technical work and exhibit the ability to manage tasks and perform work on multiple projects or multiple tasks simultaneously
Desire to learn and grow in your profession, demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, resourcefulness, flexibility, and ownership
Proficiency with use of Microsoft Office Suite software
Able to meet the physical requirements of the position: lift 50 lbs., traverse unstable/sloping sites and landscapes, work outside in a range of weather conditions, and have the stamina for moderate physical activity for the majority of field working hours
Able to travel to work locations that may require overnight stays
Preferred
Master's degree in Geology or related field
Professional certification or planning to obtain professional certification, as applicable to the discipline
Experience with developing conceptual site models
OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and refresher updates
