Responsibilities
Develop mechanical systems and components with an emphasis on automation, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and safety
Work within a project team, teamwork, schedule adherence, execution, start-up, commissioning, owner interaction, qualifications
Identify and implement automation systems including the mechanical design, electrical controls design and possibly programming if experienced
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and production staff, to integrate automation solutions
Create prototypes, conduct testing, and refine designs to meet project goals and specifications
Lead and manage automation projects from concept to deployment, adhering to timelines and budgets
Provide SME Leadership in designated area/field. Depending on assignment, this may be product design, machine design, robotics integration, equipment assembly and testing
Generate and maintain technical documentation, including design schematics, process instructions, and operation manuals
Diagnose and resolve mechanical and automation-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on automation systems
Proven experience in designing, developing, and implementing automated machinery and processes
High Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools
Knowledge of robotics, PLC programming, and control systems
Familiarity with industrial automation standards and safety regulations
Experience with material handling systems, actuators, sensors, and pneumatic systems
Machining experience is a plus
Preferred
Certification in automation or robotics engineering
Experience with Industry 4.0 technologies, IoT, or machine learning applications in automation
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies
