Associate Director of Mental Health - Peers
NYC Health + Hospitals is the largest public health care system in the United States, providing essential services to over one million New Yorkers annually. The Associate Director of Mental Health - Peers will oversee peer support services and provide consultation on incorporating Peer Counselors in crisis settings to improve patient care and connection to ongoing services.

Responsibilities
Serves as advisor/consultant on program operations, including, but not limited to, patient experience, opportunities to meaningfully incorporate peers into those operations
Provides coordination with outside providers
Consults with program operations incorporating peers in crisis setting, including but not limited to Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP), Mobile Crisis, and Adult Emergency Department (ED)
Works closely with members of the B-HEARD team to improve patient connection to ongoing care
Supports implementation of strategies to help patients connect with follow-up care
Supports a variety of peer-informed strategies, including recovery-orientation, use of recovery language, sharing of lived experience in a non-clinical way
Provides social work support in EDs/CPEPs following a removal, in the absence of dedicated peer services in that setting
Advises other OBH program operations as needed including, but not limited to, CPEP Peer Bridgers, Mobile Crisis, ED Leads, and others
Participates in meetings and conferences with key leadership
Assists with reports on operations and makes recommendations regarding policies or procedures to facilitate improved services, increased patient satisfaction and better patient outcomes
Assists in data collection, analyzing and reporting: and other duties as assigned

Qualification
Required
Possession of a valid license and current registration to practice in a mental health discipline issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED)
Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in a health care setting or regulatory agency administration, with an emphasis on development and evaluation of mental health delivery services; one (1) year of which must have been in an administrative, managerial or supervisory capacity
Preferred
Three years of increasingly responsible experience in peer provided service settings, with particular emphasis on training and development OMH regulations for behavioral health services
Knowledge of city systems
Knowledge of peer support practices
Effective time management skills
Experience in acute and/or field-based behavioral health care settings (CPEP, inpatient psychiatry, mobile crisis teams, mobile treatment teams) required
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lead teams in fast-paced, unpredictable and high-stress situations required
English proficiency a must, bilingual/multilingual preferred
Peer Specialist (NYCPS) or Peer Specialist-Provisional (NYCPS-P) issued by the New York
Peer Specialist Certification Board (NYPSCB Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) or
Recovery Peer Advocate-Provisional (CRPA-P) issued by the New York Certification Board (ASAP-NYCB); or
Credentialed Family Peer Advocate (FPA)
