Responsibilities

Facilitate the collection of evidence related to accident investigations as needed
Coordinate the collection and securing of evidence from investigation of accidents and claims as necessary
Organize and maintain case files in the designated company database, adhering to deadlines
Liase between attorneys and relevant staff to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently
Schedule deposition preparations and depositions in collaboration with attorneys, employees, supervisors, and managers
Assist managers in the scheduling of on-site inspections when necessary
Coordinate and draft responses to Interrogatories, Document Production requests, and other legal inquiries as directed by Assistant Manager
Collaborate with attorneys and insurance carriers as applicable
Effectively engage with internal teams (e.g., Port Police, Maintenance, Crane Operations, Human Resources, and others) as required
Proactively identify opportunities for improving systems and procedures, minimizing risks, and implementing enhancements when appropriate
Participate in a 24-hour on-call duty rotation
Temporarily step in as backup for the Case Assistant Manager during vacations, absences, or vacancies

Required

Excellent oral, written, and listening skills required
Ability to handle confidential information
Must have analytical and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
Ability to critique and improve business practices and procedures
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively and professionally with the GPA staff on all levels as well as customers and the public required
Extensive knowledge of legal issues related to organizational liability
Experience with, proficient use of, M/S: Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, as well as e-mail and Microsoft Office
Driver's License - Valid state driver's license Required Upon Hire
TWIC - Transportation Worker Identification Credential Required Upon Hire

Preferred

1-3 years Work related experience in litigation, intake, discovery and trial
1-3 years Experience in multi-tasking and scheduling appointments with various calendars
1-3 years Experience with data entry and working with various databases
Associate's Degree Para-legal, Risk Management, Business Management or similar degree
