ACCOUNTS MAINTENANCE CLERK
Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) mission is to lead the DoD in finance and accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay and financial information. The Accounts Maintenance Clerk will be responsible for examining paperwork, adjusting records, and utilizing office automation software to support financial operations.

Responsibilities
Examine incoming paperwork to ensure information required for data entry is present. Review output files, computerized listings or other records to ensure accuracy
Adjust records based on a standardized set of rules, regulations, laws or procedures. Perform arithmetic to verify calculations using basic mathematical formulas
Use various office automation software products such as word processing, spreadsheets, and email to disseminate information
Use rules and regulations to answer inquiries in person, in writing, or by telephone to internal and external customers concerning all pay-related issues and matters
Duties will be developmental in nature when the position is filled below the full performance level
Qualification
Required
Education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university
You MUST submit transcripts or proof of education to verify your claim
Four years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation is a prerequisite may be substituted to meet the general experience requirement
Two years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation is a prerequisite may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement
One year of general experience, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required for GS-04
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-04 within the federal service is required for GS-05
This position requires you to obtain and maintain a Level 1 Certification under the DoD Financial Management (FM) Certification Program as a condition of employment
Must be a U.S. Citizenship or National
Registered for Selective Service (males born after 12-31-1959)
Suitable for Federal Employment
Obtain/Maintain Financial Management Certification
New employees to the Defense Finance and Accounting Service will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs
You must submit a copy of your DD-214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, showing the dates of active duty service, type of discharge and the character of service if claiming veteran's preference
