Qualification

Required

Certification in Court Reporting from an approved credentialing authority, and completion of a formal court reporting program plus one (1) year of full-time verbatim reporting experience
High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of full-time general verbatim reporting experience
Candidates without certification may still qualify by passing a NYS Courts' assessment evaluating reporting and transcription skills
Certifications generally accepted include those demonstrating proficiency in reporting and transcribing dictation at 225 words per minute with at least 95% accuracy
