Lead Design Engineer
Eaton is a cutting-edge composites company looking for a Lead Design Engineer. In this role, you will provide technical leadership, coordinate the design and analysis of composite pressure vessels and structures, and work closely with customers to develop innovative solutions.

Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams made up of multiple engineering disciplines
Work with customers and our internal Business Development team to generate conceptual designs, definitize requirements, and develop cost estimates for new hardware
Coordinate, design, analyze and test composite pressure vessels and structures developing conceptual designs into mature product solutions
Attend conferences and trade shows to advance technical skills and market intelligence including ability to determine customer wants and needs and translate them into verifiable engineering requirements
Manage technical risk through exhaustive identification, prioritization of risk mitigation activities, and data driven design changes where appropriate
Function as program manager to execute programs to allocated cost and schedule requirements while meeting customer needs
Interface with suppliers and in house production teams throughout life of products
Develop engineering standards and design guides to support continuous improvement of the relevant engineering domain
Support the site as needed including developing new manufacturing processes, dispositioning nonconformances, troubleshooting product issues, responding to corrective actions, and incorporating any producibility lessons learned through drawing revisions
Manage technical risk through exhaustive identification, prioritization of risk mitigation activities, and data driven design changes where appropriate
Work to Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) principles including careful management of Critical to Quality requirements through the design lifecycle, rigorous knowledge building of the design space, understanding of the effects of manufacturing variation, and design for manufacturing and assembly to meet product recurring cost targets
Be able to mentor junior engineers within the incumbents specified domain
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or Material Science from an accredited institution
Minimum of 10 years of experience in product design, product development, and/or production design problem resolution
Minimum of 5 years of experience working with composites within product design, product development and/or production design problem resolution
All candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future
This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee
Relocation is not provided. All candidates must currently reside within 70 miles of Eaton's Westminster, MD facility
Preferred
Master's degree in Mechanical Material Science or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution
