WATER RESOURCES ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
Fayetteville Public Works Commission is looking for a Water Resources Engineering Technician. The role involves performing standardized technical engineering tasks in both office and field settings, focusing on drawing maintenance, project specifications, and utility research under general supervision.

Responsibilities
Adheres to safety rules; no lost time accidents occur
Provides input into departmental/divisional objectives and long-range plans
Creates and maintains an environment conducive to good employee/management relations
Assumes responsibility for personal productivity and quality of work
Compiles data and prepares accurate and timely reports
Maintains a 98% or greater attendance percentage average for four quarters of the performance review period
Manages personal time, schedules, and deadlines
Responds to customer concerns and complaints professionally and timely
Interacts with other departments, divisions, and utility agencies to ensure proper communication
Coordinates time off with immediate supervisor and co-workers to minimize disruptions
Qualification
Required
Good knowledge of safety rules, regulations, and procedures
Good knowledge of methods, practices, and materials used in the trades
Working knowledge of survey work and engineering drafting
Skill in using, reading, and interpreting testing devices and equipment
Ability to perform accurate mathematical computations
Ability to estimate the cost of materials
Ability to evaluate and recommend solutions to technical problems
Ability to operate computers and software to prepare, revise, and upgrade sketches and drawings
Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, drawings, sketches, blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
Ability to work in confining areas
Effective communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to prepare and maintain reports and records
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees, officials, contractors, customers, and the general public
Graduation from an accredited two-year community college/technical school with a degree/certification in engineering technology, drafting, design, surveying, or a related field and a minimum of one year of progressively responsible construction or engineering experience involving estimating, surveying, or related work; OR
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience as defined above; OR
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as defined above
Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina Driver's License
