Responsibilities
Perform Lead Highway Engineer responsibilities, reporting directly to the Project Manager
Roadway design, 3D modeling, intersection design/layout, and ADA ramp design/grading
Provide highway engineering support for E&S, PCSM, drainage, H&H, permits, environmental, structure, traffic, and public involvement tasks
Assist in the preparation of roadway, right-of-way, staging and construction plans, specifications and engineering estimates and reports for transportation projects
Mentor junior engineers in the preparation of engineering studies, analyses, design plans, and reports
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 6+ years of PennDOT highway/transportation design experience
Knowledgeable in PennDOT design criteria and standards
Experience in horizontal and vertical geometry
Experience in roadway modeling and cross section development
Experience in grading intersection design
Experience in ADA Design
B.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum
EIT required
Experience with MicroStation
Experience with OpenRoads Designer CONNECT Editions
Knowledge of AASHTO Green Book
Knowledge of PennDOT Roadway Design Manuals
Knowledge of the PennDOT Project Delivery process
Strong communications skills
Flexibility to work and collaborate in a hybrid environment
Preferred
PE is preferred
Experience with PennDOT highway design and PS&E package preparation desirable
