Responsibilities

Define the Editorial Mission: Set the overarching editorial mission, content priorities, and manage the editorial calendar for all channels (digital, print, newsletters, events)
Original Content Creation: Write market-leading content, including high-profile brand research, special reports, monthly webinars, and deep analysis of news and trends
Visual Strategy Ownership: Own the visual engagement strategy for all digital content, directing design resources to maximize audience engagement metrics (clicks, time-on-page)
Performance-Driven Strategy: Be energized by tracking digital performance metrics, translating data trends into new content opportunities, and continuously optimizing digital offerings
The Face of the Brand: Act as the confident, engaging public voice of Progressive Grocer, regularly hosting, moderating, and speaking with high authority online (especially LinkedIn) and on-stage
Influencer & Speaker Recruitment: Execute strategic, year-round speaker recruitment and cultivate long-term relationships with high-level C-suite sources across the grocery retail industry
Event Content Leadership: Define and continually elevate the Attendee Value Proposition, leading the content strategy to produce highly compelling, forward-looking agendas for all in-person events
Industry Visibility: Actively attend and influence industry events and shows to drive brand visibility
Team Leadership: Manage the day-to-day output of the editorial team, coaching and mentoring direct reports to develop their digital hosting, moderation, and content creation capabilities
Business Support: Partner closely with the Brand Director on budget, strategic planning, and supporting the pitching of sponsorship/underwriting opportunities to customers

Required

A Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field
3+ years of proven experience as an Editor-in-Chief or Editorial Director, preferably in a B2B media environment
A strong background and deep connections within the food, grocery retail or retail ecosystem
Proven experience with event content development, digital programming, and year-round speaker recruitment
Proven experience managing and mentoring a high-performing editorial team
Comfortable using analytics/data to make content decisions and test new content ideas
Demonstrated ability to host, moderate, and present compelling digital content; comfortable speaking on stage; and maintaining a high level of visibility online (LinkedIn)
Ability to travel domestically as needed for events and internal meetings
