Regulatory Business Analyst
The University of Virginia’s Office of the Vice President for Research is seeking a detail-oriented Regulatory Business Analyst to ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulations. This role supports research integrity, focusing on conflicts of interest and commitment while driving process improvements across the research enterprise.

Responsibilities
Partner with OVPR leadership, researchers, and study teams to promote understanding of COI/COC requirements
Guide investigators through disclosure, review, and management processes
Monitor compliance and identify opportunities for operational efficiency
Support strategic decision-making through data analysis and process improvement
Conduct relatedness reviews of disclosed interests vs. sponsored research
Facilitate system access, training, and education on COI/COC requirements
Coordinate ancillary reviews with subject matter experts and HRPP for human subjects research
Assist with mandatory reporting to sponsors and regulatory agencies
Support the University’s online disclosure system: map workflows, identify process improvements, and reduce operational risk
Gather requirements, track progress, test enhancements, and assist with implementation
Provide administrative support to the Research COI Committee, including protocol review, agenda preparation, drafting management plans, and meeting documentation
Stay current on evolving COI/COC regulations and assist with planning and implementing programmatic changes
Qualification
Required
Ability to interpret complex regulations and apply standards accurately
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal communication; diplomatic and professional approach
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Experience partnering with IT teams on system enhancements and documenting business processes
Comfort handling sensitive issues with discretion and confidentiality
Compliance Professional 1: High school diploma and at least 2 years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Compliance Professional 2: Bachelor's degree (or 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree) and at least 2 years of relevant experience
Preferred
Experience in regulatory compliance or research administration
Knowledge of federal regulations and sponsor requirements related to COI/COC
Familiarity with academic or medical research settings, sponsored programs, and human research protections
