As the Foster Grandparent Program Coordinator, you will lead a transformative program that empowers older adults to make meaningful contributions in children's lives by recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers.

Responsibilities

Recruit passionate individuals 55+ who want to give back
Guide volunteers through onboarding, from eligibility verification to background checks and interviews
Match volunteers with placements where they'll thrive—schools, Head Start programs, and child care centers
Conduct meaningful site visits to support volunteers and strengthen relationships with partner organizations
Design and deliver engaging pre-service orientations and monthly training sessions
Equip volunteers with skills and resources to excel in their roles
Plan recognition events that celebrate contributions and foster community
Maintain comprehensive, confidential records and databases
Coordinate volunteer assignments and resolve challenges with care and professionalism
Prepare reports for program management and funding agencies like AmeriCorps Seniors
Process stipends and reimbursements accurately and efficiently
Represent the program through presentations and outreach
Develop positive relationships with schools, nonprofits, and community partners
Increase program visibility and impact throughout the region

Qualification

Required

Experience working with older adults (55+) and/or managing volunteers
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and volunteer management databases
Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and clean background check
Ability to work independently while adapting to changing priorities
Patience and empathy when working with diverse populations

Preferred

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in human services, volunteer management, or related field
Background in program coordination or working with seniors and children
Familiarity with data management systems (Truescreen, Field Print, NSOPW, Voltrax, Blackboard Connect)
Flexibility to attend occasional after-hours and weekend events
Willingness to travel regionally
