Staff Engineer, Systems HPC

Responsibilities
Support acquisition, installation, maintenance, and administration of large enterprise SAN, NAS storage systems
Troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis and identify and fix Linux and storage related problems
Allocate SAN storage and NFS/CIFS shares to servers and provide system security and access
Build, develop and use storage supervising tools to analyze performance and identify bottlenecks or slowdowns and take appropriate action to resolve
Plan, coordinate and upgrade components of the Linux and Storage systems as needed with software, hardware and microcode upgrades, etc. Work with vendors as needed in this process
Collaborate with Micron’s Business Units to ensure solutions meet or exceed business requirements by regularly reviewing project achievements and soliciting partner feedback
Ensure service efficiency and improve customer satisfaction by adhering to established SLA standards
Maintain systems and update operational documentation to ensure that they are current
Direct administration of RedHat Linux servers in a large network environment
Accountable for SAN/NAS, Backup & Archiving capacity planning and growth projection
Recommend and work with the Solution and Enterprise Architect on system or architectural changes when needed to improve performance, high availability, scalability, or propose innovative technologies
Ensures architectural consistency and provides technical direction through roadmap process, knowledge management
Provide comprehensive support for our large Linux server environment by proactively supervising system health, solving and resolving sophisticated technical issues, implementing critical security updates, and optimizing performance. Through advanced administration and a strong dedication to customer service
Qualification
Required
At least 3-5 years in managing storage solutions
skilled in managing RedHat-based Linux systems
Strong Linux administration skills. RedHat desired
Experience with Cisco SAN Switch configuration and support such as Virtual SAN, Fiber channel zoning, LUN masking, HBA configuration and tuning
Strong understanding of the OSI model, particularly relating to storage transport protocols such as NFS, ISCSI
B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, other technical fields or equivalent work experience
Preferred
NetApp Cluster Mode NAS and SMB configurations. Additional NetApp technologies such as snapmirror, snapvault, metro cluster are desired
Dell Isilon storage management experience
Pure storage provisioning and management experience
Woking knowledge of Backup technologies
Proven experience working with storage systems in a cloud environment
