Environmental Engineer - Solid Waste Specialist

Cherokee Nation Government Solutions is seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer - Solid Waste Specialist to join our team supporting the AFIMSC Det 2 in planning, management, and execution of U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force environmental programs in the Pacific region. The candidate will work with various entities to ensure compliance and provide technical support for high profile initiatives at installations throughout the Pacific.

Responsibilities

Provide full-time, on-site inspections, acquisition, solid waste and recycling technical services at the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii office
Work with installation, DAF, DoD and other entities to gather, review and submit technical data in support of these programs
Monitor and update databases and records libraries and support data call analysis to include EASIER, EESOH-MIS, and eDASH including the Plans & Permits Tracker. Additional duties will include administrative reach back and include access for those systems (TMT, etc)
Ensure completeness, accuracy, currency, and consistency of all records, and compliance with applicable business rules and guidance
Review data provided by the installations, perform a trend analysis, to include whether data is consistent or inconsistent with expected values, describe why changes may be occurring, and provide recommendations for program adjustments or data approval to the DAF PM and COR
Track the status of, write, review and or edit environmental statements of work, cost estimates, acquisition strategies, plans and permits for these programs
Work with the Det 2 CEV PMs and base personnel to anticipate and when feasible, prevent, the submission of late plans and permits
Work with base POCs, Det 2 and CZOP PMs to ensure status of plans and permits are updated on a weekly basis
Site leader for Environmental deliverables, tasks, and employees
Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required

Must be an environmental engineer, environmental scientist, chemist, or physical scientist
5+ years of inspections and solid waste/recycling, acquisition, and/or compliance experience
BA/BS (or higher) degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in environmental engineering, environmental science, geology, physics, chemistry, mathematics, or a closely related scientific field
Ability to organize and gather project data, conduct analysis, prepare reports, and provide recommendations without assistance
Good organizational skills and excellent communication skills both oral and written
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Current USA passport (or ability to obtain within five months)
Ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD-issued CAC card (i.e., NACI/SF85)
Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal

Preferred

Experience with federal projects and Pacific region preferred
