CNC Mill Setup/Programmer

Joblio is seeking a CNC Mill Setup/Programmer responsible for setting up, programming, and operating multi-axis milling machines to manufacture precision machined components. The role involves ensuring efficient machine set-up, accurate programming, and high-quality output while collaborating with various engineering and production teams.

Responsibilities

Review engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing routings to determine required machining processes, cutting tools, fixturing, and program strategy
Develop, edit, and optimize CNC milling programs (G-code/M-code) and CAM toolpaths for multi-axis milling machines
Set up milling machines including loading fixtures/vises, installing tooling, setting zero points, work offsets, checking axis alignment, and verifying machine readiness
Perform first-part run‐outs, prove‐out programs, perform in‐process inspection, make necessary adjustments to maintain tolerances and cycle times
Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues such as tool wear, chatter, program errors, fixturing problems, and machine calibration
Collaborate with machining operators, quality/inspection, and tooling engineers to ensure parts meet GD&T, surface finish and dimensional requirements
Maintain documentation: setup sheets, tooling lists, program libraries, machine logs, SPC/tracking data (if applicable)
Maintain a clean, safe work area and adhere to company health & safety, machine maintenance and shop floor standards
Identify continuous improvement opportunities for tooling, cycle time, machine utilization, scrap/rework reduction, and support manufacturing cost goals

Required

High School diploma or GED; technical/trade school or associate degree in machining/manufacturing preferred
Minimum 2-5 years experience programming and setting up multi‐axis CNC mills in a production environment
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T
Proficient in CAM software (Mastercam, Esprit, GibbsCAM, etc.), programming and editing CNC code
Experience with 3-, 4-, or 5-axis milling machines, cutting tools, fixturing, workholding
Hands-on set up ability (tooling installation, machine zeroing, workholding adjustments) and use of precision measuring instruments (micrometers, bore gauges, CMM, etc.)
Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, stand for long periods, and work overtime as required
Excellent communication and team‐collaboration skills

Preferred

Experience in lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives
Previous exposure to high-mix/low-volume or aerospace/defense manufacturing environment
Familiarity with machine controls (Fanuc, Haas, Siemens), DNC systems, tool management systems
