Med. Director of Sexual & Reproductive Health

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and expand a full-spectrum reproductive health program, including prenatal/postnatal care, outpatient gynecologic services, and family planning, with attention to quality, access, and health equity
Create policies and procedures that best serve patients at all LCDP sites and work with the CHO to ensure that care meets all evidence-based quality standards
Build relationships with local hospitals, state and local public health agencies, and community organizations to ensure continuity of care and access to specialty healthcare and related services as needed
Work collaboratively with the CHO and Director of Clinical Services to ensure the highest clinical quality, evidence-based care, an outstanding patient experience, optimized patient access, cost effective utilization, and financial sustainability
Develop and monitor clinical protocols, quality metrics, and safety initiatives in line with national standards and FQHC requirements
Serve as the clinical lead and technical expert for prenatal/postnatal care, family planning, contraception, ultrasound, and outpatient gynecology, including evidence-based protocols and training for staff
Directly supervise clinicians (CNM, NP, PA, physician) and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and FQHC regulations
Assist in the supervision of clinicians (CNM, NP, PA, physician) including doing chart audits
Perform peer review audits regularly
Discuss any important clinical issues with CHO
Discuss any provider related issues with the CHO, including performance concerns that might lead to steps in the corrective action plan process
Mentor and train clinicians in reproductive health competencies and ultrasound
In accordance with candidate’s specialty (e.g. Family Medicine or Obstetrics and Gynecology). Provide prenatal and postpartum care; perform outpatient gynecologic procedures (e.g., IUD/implant placement, colposcopy, endometrial biopsy, early pregnancy loss management), ultrasound
Demonstrates professionalism and integrity in all aspects of administrative work and patient care
Effectively engages patients in their care
Works with the CHO on interviewing, onboarding, and orientation of new providers
Effectively hires and manages team members while coaching for development opportunities
Completes annual evaluations
Assesses opportunities for expanded patient access and improvements in provider activity
Works with CHO and finance team on preparation of annual budget
Works with CHO, Director of Clinical Services, quality and compliance staff, and the nursing team in continuous readiness and implementation of quality standards
Is responsible for initiation and completion of clinical quality improvement activities, including counseling clinicians about performance and compliance issues. This also includes completion of at least one documented PDSA cycle per year that strives to improve clinical care or operations
Shows meaningful progress toward quality improvement goals
Knowledge of all clinical regulations and requirements for participation in programs
Participates in internal committees and teams as requested
Serves as liaison between the clinicians and other staff
Attends relevant clinical and operational meetings
Liaison to, or member of, organizational committees as appropriate
Liaison to other internal LCDP departments

Required

MD or DO, board-certified in Family Medicine or Obstetrics & Gynecology; must have extensive experience in reproductive health, including family planning prenatal/postnatal care, ultrasound, and outpatient gynecologic procedures
Demonstrated experience building and leading reproductive health programs, preferably in FQHC or safety-net settings
Experience (at least 3 years, 5 preferred) supervising clinicians, nurses, and other members of the clinical team and working in multidisciplinary teams
Commitment to culturally and linguistically appropriate care and to serving diverse populations

Preferred

Bilingual Spanish language skills strongly preferred
Ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individuals
Using quality, operational, and financial data provided, can provide clinical, operational, and financial oversight to reproductive healthcare services
Ability to work with a multidisciplinary leadership and clinical team
Skill in interacting with various levels of health care leadership both within and outside of the organization
Computer skills including Microsoft office suite, electronic medical records and practice management system
Familiarity with Medicaid, Title X, and FQHC funding and reporting requirements
Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
