Responsibilities

Generate design concepts based on market needs and assist in presenting the concept to the customer
Conduct market research on market trends, emerging technologies and competitive benchmarking
Engage in customer visits to gather insights for new product development and legacy product enhancements
Travel to customer sites to gather firsthand market insights, collect product feedback, support live product demonstrations, and gain ideas for future product development
Collaborate with Engineering and Marketing leadership to translate market insights into a strategic product roadmap
Identify new tools that could improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the engineering department based on direct market feedback
Recommend product and process changes, reviews engineering associate’s technical work when asked
Ensure product designs meet quality, safety, and ISO standards
Generate and prepare technical reports, trip summaries and market details
Participate in design reviews, releases, and change processes throughout the product lifecycle
Communicate effectively with internal and external customers regarding engineering designs, conceptual ideas, design changes, requirements and any other engineering related matter
Serve as a technical resource to other departments within Ripley and outside customers

Required

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent
5-8 years of relevant experience
Excellent mechanical ability and problem solving
Understands engineering drawing generation and configuration management
Read, understand and discuss technical requirements, articles, plans, drawings, etc
Good computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite
Good verbal and written communication skills

Preferred

Experience and general knowledge of product line industry
Is fully adept in mechanical design and fluent in 3D and 2D CAD (AutoCAD Inventor is a plus)
Working understanding of material and engineering master in SAP
