Senior Tax Analyst, State Income Tax
Genesys is a global leader in customer experience solutions, seeking a highly motivated Senior Tax Analyst, State Income Tax to join their Global Tax Team. This role involves ensuring compliance with state tax regulations, preparing tax returns, and collaborating with various departments to optimize tax strategies.

Responsibilities
Prepare the state and local income tax returns and supporting workpapers
Calculate and file quarterly income tax estimates, and year-end extensions, ensuring payments are made by due dates
Assist with quarterly and year-end income tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740, including analyzing tax reserves, deferred tax assets and liabilities, state income taxes payable and required footnotes and disclosures
Assist in responding to inquiries from tax authorities in connection to notices and examinations
Keep abreast of tax law changes and perform technical research and analysis and apply tax laws to support tax positions related to the Company’s business transactions
Perform state nexus determinations and ensure compliance with applicable laws
Conduct state tax planning and apportionment calculations
Research and analyze complex state and local tax issues to determine appropriate tax treatment
Stay current on state tax legislation and assess its impact on the business
Assist with preparation of federal income tax return as needed
Collaborate closely with cross functional teams including finance, accounting, and treasury to gather data needed to support income tax calculations
Support ongoing tax planning projects, including tax research, and modeling/forecasting tax impacts
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and manage risk
Learn how Genesys tax is leveraging AI tools to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and analyze data
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or similar field
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (or actively pursuing)
4 - 10 years of tax related work experience in public accounting firm and/or large multinational corporation, with a focus on state and local income tax
Experience in advanced research and interpretation of state and local tax laws
High attention to details and accuracy
Strong analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills
Ability to work independently in a challenging environment with high level of integrity, manage multiple priorities, work cross-functionally, and meet tight filing deadlines
Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships & collaborate with other members of the tax team
Preferred
Master's Degree in Taxation
Experience in accounting for income taxes under ASC 740
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
Experience with OneSource Income Tax and OneSource Tax Provision
Experience with Workday ERP System
