Senior Database Administrator

Responsibilities
Architect, design, install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server instances (2016, 2017 and later) and related software
Monitor, maintain, and optimize database performance, including tuning queries and indexing. Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including performance bottlenecks, corruption, or connectivity problems
Design, implement, and manage database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability
Develop and enforce database security policies, including user access controls and audit procedures. Collaborate with the Security and Compliance teams to identify and address security risks and vulnerabilities, ensuring that database systems remain up to date, secure, and compliant with relevant policies and regulations
Create and maintain documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for SQL database architecture, deployment, configuration, backups, monitoring, and related activities, revising them periodically to ensure continued relevance
Automate routine database tasks using scripts and tools
Manage disaster recovery plans and perform regular testing
Experience in T-SQL required to manage/support stored procedures, jobs and similar objects
Support cloud-based SQL Server deployments and support, including but not limited to Azure SQL and AWS RDS
Experience in monitoring tools such as AppDynamics, Splunk, and similar platforms
Knowledge of Windows Server environments and related infrastructure
Collaborate with development teams to design and optimize database schemas and queries
Collaborate with the offshore team to provide 24x7 support and ensure timely delivery of key project milestones
Available during off-hours and weekends to support critical business issues and key deliverables
Stay current with industry best practices and new features of SQL Server to continuously improve database environments
Qualification
Required
Extensive knowledge of managing and supporting SQL Server database technology
Expertise in architecture, design, management, replication, backup, recovery, instance/query optimization, monitoring
Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills

Bachelor or Master of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, Math, or equivalent
8+ years of experience in Database Administration
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Preferred
Preferred experience working in large, cross-functional teams in a globally diverse model
Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: SQL Server Database Administrator) are a plus
