Responsibilities
Provide legal and regulatory support to the US business on matters that affect Blockchain.com with an eye towards how they impact the business globally
Monitor, assess and advise the business on legal and regulatory issues that impact entity licensing and registration, product development and distribution
Support Blockchain.com in its various licensing and registration initiatives (including potential FCM, DCM, RIA and OCC applications)
Partner with Compliance in respect of regulatory licensing matters and liaise with local regulators where necessary
Ensure that the US business is aligned with applicable laws and regulations in the region (and coordinate with colleagues in the UK, Europe and Latin America)
Handle and/or assist with regulatory inquiries and investigations (as requested)
Work effectively across business units and product-related functions to resolve complex business and risk issues
Engage outside counsel relationships as necessary
Qualification
Required
LLB/JD and admission in a US jurisdiction
5 - 8+ years relevant regulatory experience; in-house FinTech experience a bonus
Experience advising on CFTC / derivatives matters, and familiarity with wider US regulatory frameworks, such as RIAs, broker dealers, and banking
Ability to work well under pressure with diligence, organization, and minimal supervision, and provide practical, business-friendly advice to clients
Strong analytical and strategic skills; ability to drive issues to a quick resolution that factors in many non-legal variables, such as brand-risk, communications, government relations, tax, insurance, finance and other business units
High degree of professional ethics and integrity
Ability to anticipate legal issues or risks and to build the processes and systems to prevent them from occurring
