Electrical Designer

Responsibilities

Prepare electrical layouts, one‑line diagrams, three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, grounding plans, lighting layouts, panel schedules, and other electrical deliverables as required
Develop conduit, cable tray, and equipment routing using 2D and 3D modeling tools
Work with engineers to support load calculations, panel schedules, breaker sizing, and circuiting
Translate engineering requirements into accurate and constructible drawings
Coordinate electrical design with architectural, mechanical, structural, and instrumentation disciplines
Maintain accurate revision control and adhere to company drawing standards
Assist with field verification, redlines, and as‑built documentation
Generate electrical material takeoffs, device counts, and conduit/cable quantities
Participate in BIM coordination using software such as Navisworks, or AutoCAD Electrical
Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and client standards
Contribute to design review meetings and support constructability discussions

Required

3–5 years of electrical design experience in industrial or utility environments
Proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical; experience with BIM preferred
Working knowledge of power distribution, lighting systems, grounding, raceways, and control systems
Strong understanding of NEC and other applicable electrical codes
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and vendor documentation
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work both independently and within a multi‑disciplinary team

Preferred

Associate's degree or technical certificate in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Design, or similar field
Experience working in industrial plants, oil & gas, manufacturing, or large commercial facilities
Understanding of control panel layouts, instrumentation drawings, and PLC integration
Familiarity with Navisworks or other 3D coordination tools
