Responsibilities

Perform field testing on soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and other construction materials, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards
Ensure that project testing requirements are met and compliant with project specifications, requirements, and company policies or procedures
Collect, label, and transport material samples to laboratories for analysis, following proper procedures to maintain sample integrity
Ensure all testing equipment is properly maintained, and functioning correctly, following manufacturer and company guidelines
Complete detailed reports, logs, and documentation of test results, ensuring accuracy and timely submission to project managers and stakeholders
Communicate effectively with dispatch, field supervisors, contractors, and project managers, providing real-time updates on job status, site conditions, and any issues encountered
May be asked to mentor and support junior field technicians, providing guidance on field procedures, testing methods, and safety best practices
Follow all OSHA, company, and client safety protocols, ensuring strict adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, hazard awareness, and field safety guidelines
Adapt to changing project requirements and schedules, including early morning, weekend, or overnight work as needed
Operate and maintain assigned company vehicle, including scheduling routine maintenance and ensuring proper upkeep
Travel to job sites within the designated region, which may require overnight stays based on project needs
Flexibility to work variable schedules, including early mornings, weekends, overtime, and potential overnight travel based on project demands
Perform additional duties as assigned to support company initiatives and project success

Required

High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or coursework in construction, engineering, geology, or a related field preferred
3+ years of field-based experience in materials testing, construction inspection, geotechnical fieldwork, or a related industry
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record; ability to safely operate company vehicles
Commitment to safety and adherence to OSHA regulations, industry best practices, and company safety policies
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Field Data Collection (FDC) software or similar industry tools
Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to read, write, and interpret blueprints, procedures, manuals, technical documents, and reports related to drilling, safety, and project requirements
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to complete tasks efficiently and accurately
Attention to detail to ensure accurate sample collection, testing procedures, and documentation
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to producing high-quality results
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and carrying equipment, standing for extended periods, and working in outdoor environments with varying weather conditions
Flexibility to work variable schedules, including early mornings, weekends, overtime, and potential overnight travel based on project demands

Preferred

Vocational training or coursework in construction, engineering, geology, or a related field preferred
Industry certifications such as ACI Level 1 Concrete Testing preferred or ability to obtain within a specified time period
