General Engineer

Responsibilities

Lead activities developing and testing nuclear weapon and tactical/strategic delivery maintenance and storage, focused on achieving effective and reliable weapon performance
Work with National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Sandia National Laboratories (SNL), Aircraft and Cruise Missile platform System Program Offices (SPOs) to refine interface requirements and documentation
Validate platform interface designs, and document integration successes across a spectrum of assessment, evaluation and test activities to include emerging simulation and digital engineering methodologies
Provide technical oversight on sustaining engineering and surveillance efforts including technical reviews, test strategy, test plans, test reports, engineering and technical assistance requests and technical evaluations
Advise sponsor organizations on system performance, and indicate if the system meets technical specifications satisfactorily to be accepted by the government
Monitor and analyze applicable statistical data and/or reports to track program status, evaluate results and apply them to strategic goals, and plan improvements

U.S. CITIZENSHIP
This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing
Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise; employee must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance
This position has been designated an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). Employee must meet Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements, which includes achieving Engineering and Technical Management 'Practitioner' certification category within required timeframe after appointment
Occasional travel is required. Travel may account for up to 20% of the time, but can also be negotiated within the branch
Engineer candidates must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) All Professional Engineering Positions, 0800, Individual Occupational Requirements

Preferred

Technical Master's Degree Desired
Desirable for applicant to have experience with Department of War (DoW) and Department of Energy (DOE) acquisition policy and planning
Desirable for applicant to have experience with weapon system programs and ability to interpret nuclear weapon and related nuclear enterprise policies
Desirable for applicant to have expertise in National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and DoW cybersecurity requirements
