Civil / Ocean Engineer

The U.S. Coast Guard is seeking a Civil / Ocean Engineer to be responsible for the design and construction of new and existing shore facilities and marine site structures. The role includes providing technical ocean engineering support and managing complex engineering projects.

Responsibilities

Analyzing designs, planning, and executing large and/or complex designs for a diverse range of engineering projects
Evaluating design objectives, performing complex technical calculations, and identifying the most economical and efficient procedures for project design and performance considering all influences
Working complexities require adaptation and modification of precedents and a versatile and creative approach to solve problems where serious conflicts exist between management requirements and engineering principles
Performing field investigations to evaluate ocean / civil engineering issues and concerns with existing facilities to develop recommendations
Serving as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for assigned projects

Required

Applicants must provide an official college transcript
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet Federal qualification requirements if you can show that your foreign education is comparable to education received in accredited educational institutions in the U.S
This position does have a positive education requirement
You must submit an official course description from the college/university that reflects the content at the time the course was taken
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must be registered or exempt from the Selective Service
A one-year probationary period may be required
All selected applicants must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation
Selectee must be able to obtain/maintain a valid state driver's license
All Federal employees are required to have Federal salary payments made by direct deposit
Transcripts must be submitted with your application package
You MUST meet the following requirements: EDUCATION: A. Degree: Engineering
To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal or private sector
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications
Failure to provide all of the required information as stated in this vacancy announcement may result in an ineligible rating or may affect the overall rating
