Responsibilities
Train production and QA staff on food safety, quality procedures, and regulatory updates
Direct QA technicians and provide coaching, scheduling, and collaborate with QA manager for performance feedback
Ensure compliance with USDA, FSIS and FDA regulations, including HACCP, SSOPs, GMPs, and HARPC
Lead daily QA activities including pre-operational inspections, in-process checks, and finished product evaluations
Maintain accurate and timely QA documentation, including batch records, deviation logs, and verification records
Participate in internal audits and support third-party audits (SQF, customer audits)
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Animal Science, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
3–5 years of QA experience in USDA-regulated meat processing; FDA experience a strong plus
HACCP certification required
Experience with document control systems and audit readiness
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Preferred
PCQI certification preferred
