The Jacksonville Transportation Authority is focused on advanced mobility initiatives and is seeking an Assistant Vice President for Automation & Innovation. This role provides leadership and operational oversight for various technology pilots and innovation projects, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic vision.

Responsibilities

Support the VP in managing all phases of U2C and other innovation projects, including planning, design, procurement, and implementation

Lead operational execution for technology pilots, automation initiatives, and integration of emerging mobility solutions

Prepare and present project updates, reports, and recommendations to VP and senior leadership

Oversee procurement processes, including drafting scopes of work, evaluating proposals, and negotiating contracts for innovation-related projects

Monitor budgets and schedules; identify risks and recommend corrective actions

Foster collaboration across departments and external partners to ensure program success

Represent the VP in meetings, public forums, and stakeholder engagements as needed

Drive innovation and continuous improvement in project delivery, technology adoption, and operational efficiency

Identify and evaluate new technologies and strategic partnerships to advance JTA’s innovation agenda

Identify funding opportunities and strategies to secure required funding for all associated capital initiatives resulting from the development of the U2C program

Required

Bachelor's Degree in engineering, architecture, or a related management degree, from an accredited college or university

Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively increased responsibility as a manager of a substantial transit/transportation engineering and construction program, with a sound knowledge of new transportation technologies

Must have a proven track record of successfully managing the planning, design, development, and production schedules for major program, and completing projects within budget and on time

Actively demonstrate JTA's Elements of a Leader, including being engaged, courageous, a good communicator, empathetic, a critical thinker, a team player, a strategic thinker, customer-focused, a change agent/innovative, inspirational/high energy, accountable, and having integrity

A track record in budget management, stewardship and developing proven strategies to build multi-faceted external affairs and development programs

Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, to include strong presentation skills

Strong organizational, analytical, and strategic-thinking skills with demonstrated ability to create, implement and monitor complex plans, translate those plans into actionable goals, and develop sound methods and strategies for implementation

Knowledge of computer-based programs for scheduling, budgeting, database record keeping, document management, and standard management and engineering related software applications

Skill developing, preparing and monitoring budgets for multiple departments

Skill managing projects in an effective and timely manner

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

Knowledge of transit/transportation regulations, practices and policies governing the Authority

Demonstrated ability to develop a dedicated work team, with a focus on collaboration, mentoring, nurturing, and the delivery of exceeded goals
