Metropolitan Family Services empowers families to learn, to earn, to heal, to thrive. They are seeking a Student Intern to support their Senior Resident Service Coordinator Team, focusing on outreach and engagement with senior clients to provide resources and organize activities.

Responsibilities

Learns and supports with ongoing outreach and engagement to build relationships with clients 55 years and older and inform them of available resources

Learns to complete assessment to understand basic needs, quality of life indicators, current services, and to identify opportunities for education/socialization and recreational activities

Supports with organizing and coordinating recreational, social and educational activities for seniors

Learns and supports with on-going engagement, reassessment and goal planning

Learns to conducts well-being checks as needed

Learns to handles emergency and crisis situations with residents

Supports with establishing a senior group to support the development of community events and activities

Helps to connect to resources in the community and will work with these resources to provide referrals for seniors. Serve as an advocate. Track and follow up as appropriate

Learns to works within contract, grant, and program requirements including meeting timelines and reporting requirements

Takes increasing responsibility for own professional development, utilizing supervision and other developmental opportunities within and outside the agency to enhance skills and understanding

Other programmatic duties as assigned by supervisor

Works effectively with diverse staff and service populations

Attend monthly coordination and community meetings

Highly organized. Knowledge of Excel to track submission of documentation

Required to plan accordingly, as needed in response to scheduled activities/ events at assigned buildings

Required

Currently enrolled in a college or University, in a Bachelor or Master Program, focusing on social work or related field

Requires mobility to work with senior caseload

Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups

Provide a high level of customer service to residents, partners, funders, visitors etc

Excellent skills in a wide array of computer software, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Excellent oral and written communications skills, including knowledge of grammar and spelling, and ability to compose documents and letters and to proofread and edit documents as needed

Ability to work both individually and as a team member in a highly complex and face-paced environment

Excellent tact, consideration, and good judgement in dealing with a wide range of the public
